Technical specifications

Accuracy in the tables is expressed as ±(a% of reading + b), where b is the number of resolution units for the specified range. For example, for the 4.000 V range with a resolution of 0.001 V, the +5 term represents an additional error of ±0.005 V. The calibration interval is 1 year. Reference conditions: 23 ±5 °C and relative humidity ≤80%.

To maintain accuracy, the operating temperature should be 18–28 °C, with fluctuations no greater than ±1 °C. Below 18 °C and above 28 °C, add a temperature error of 0.1 × the specified accuracy for each °C.

Resistance measurement

  1. 01Connect the test leads to V(+) and COM. Set the function switch to the Ω position (shared by resistance, continuity, diode and capacitance measurements); press SELECT to select Ω.
  2. 02Short the probe tips together. If the reading is at least 0.5 Ω, check the connection and condition of the test leads.
  3. 03Place the probe tips at both ends of the resistor and read the resistance.

OL indicates an open circuit or that the maximum range has been exceeded.

Circuit continuity test

  1. 01Connect the test leads to V(+) and COM. Set the function switch to the Ω position, then press SELECT to select the continuity symbol.
  2. 02Place the probe tips at both ends of the section of the circuit under test and read the result.
  • ■Below 10 Ω, the buzzer sounds continuously.
  • ■Above 31 Ω, the buzzer does not sound.

Diode test

  1. 01Connect the test leads to V(+) and COM. Set the function switch to the Ω position and press SELECT to select the diode symbol.
  2. 02Place the red probe tip on the diode anode (+) and the black probe tip on the cathode (-). Read the voltage drop.
  • ■For a reading from 0.08 V to below 1.2 V, the buzzer sounds once, indicating that the diode is in good condition.
  • ■For a reading of <0.08 V, the buzzer sounds continuously, indicating a faulty diode.
  • ■OL appears if the diode is open or the polarity is reversed.

Capacitance measurement

  1. 01Connect the test leads to V(+) and COM. Set the function switch to the Ω position and press SELECT to select the capacitance symbol.
  2. 02For capacitance ≤100 nF, use REL with the probe tips disconnected to subtract their own capacitance. If measuring without REL, record the reading before connecting the capacitor.
  3. 03Connect the probe tips in parallel across the discharged capacitor. Wait for the reading to stabilise and read the result.

When measuring without REL, subtract the previously recorded reading from the result. For capacitance above 400 µF, stabilisation may take longer. For capacitance ≤1 mF, the response time is less than 3 s. OL indicates a short-circuited capacitor or that the range has been exceeded.

Temperature measurement

During temperature measurement, keep the ambient temperature around the meter within 18–28 °C.

!
Warning
Do not measure uninsulated live objects and do not apply a voltage above 30 V.
  1. 01Connect the positive terminal of the type K temperature probe to V(+) and the negative terminal to COM. Set the function switch to the temperature position. The ambient temperature will appear on the display.
  2. 02Press SELECT to select °C before placing the type K temperature probe on the object.
  3. 03Place the type K temperature probe on the object and read the temperature after a few seconds.

Non-contact electric field detection (NCV)

!
Warning
The absence of an NCV signal does not confirm the absence of voltage.
!
Warning
When detecting the field of a conductor carrying ≥100 V AC, ensure that the conductor insulation is undamaged.
  1. 01Set the function switch to the NCV position. EFHI mode is enabled by default; press SELECT briefly to switch between EFHI and EFLo modes. For a 230 V supply, select EFHI mode.
  2. 02Bring the NCV sensor tip on the jaws close to the socket or insulated conductor under test.
  3. 03Observe the segments on the display, the red LED indicator and the buzzer signals. As the field strength increases, more segments appear, and the sound and flashing become more frequent.
Figure 6. Sensor tip position during NCV detection.
Figure 6. Sensor tip position during NCV detection.

Automatic power-off

After 15 min of inactivity (without using the function switch or buttons), the meter switches off automatically. Wake it by pressing any button, or set the switch to OFF and switch it on again. To disable automatic power-off, hold SELECT and switch on the meter using the function switch. Restarting without holding SELECT restores this function.

Meter signals

A valid button press or turn of the function switch is confirmed by a beep lasting approximately 0.25 s. An intermittent sound indicates that the current or voltage range has been exceeded.

When the battery voltage falls below 2.5 V, the low battery symbol appears. Below 2.4 V, Lo.bt also appears for approximately 10 s; after three beeps, the meter switches off.

Finishing a measurement

After measuring with the test leads, move the probe tips away from the object under test; after measuring temperature, move the type K temperature probe away. After a clamp measurement, open the jaws and remove the meter from the conductor; after measuring in NCV mode, move the NCV sensor tip away. Set the function switch to OFF to conserve battery power.
