The AIT500 measures temperature based on the infrared energy emitted by the surface of an object. It is used, among other things, to measure the temperature of HVAC equipment, food surfaces and ovens. With a distance-to-spot ratio of 12:1, the measured area increases with distance. Emissivity is adjustable from 0.1–1.0, with a default of 0.95.

Alarm when limits are exceeded
When the temperature exceeds the set upper or lower limit, HI or LO flashes on the display, and if the audible alarm is enabled, the buzzer sounds.
Continuous measurement without holding the trigger
The LOCK button locks the trigger so the thermometer measures continuously, making it easier to monitor temperature over a longer period.
Over 6 h of continuous operation
Two AAA batteries provide over 6 h of continuous measurement with the laser and backlight switched on.
